National PTSD Awareness Month: Understanding Trauma, Promoting Healing, and Reducing Stigma

June is National PTSD Awareness Month, a time to increase understanding of trauma-related conditions and support those who are healing from traumatic experiences.

Post-traumatic stress disorder is a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares, severe anxiety, emotional numbness, and heightened reactions to stress.

PTSD affects people from all walks of life, including veterans, first responders, survivors of abuse, and individuals who have experienced accidents or natural disasters. Despite how common it is, many people struggle in silence due to stigma or misunderstanding.

Raising awareness means replacing judgment with empathy. It means recognizing that healing is not linear and that support systems—therapy, community, and trusted relationships—play a vital role in recovery.

If you or someone you know is struggling, reaching out to a mental health professional can be an important first step toward recovery.

At Harvest Healthcare Solutions, we understand that trauma recovery is deeply connected to stability and safe living environments. Through our housing and supportive service coordination, we help individuals access safe spaces and community-based resources that support healing, resilience, and long-term wellness. We remain committed to walking alongside those we serve with compassion and care.
